Use a new or structurally sound corrugated box rated for the item weight. Avoid gift boxes, storage cartons, string, paper wrapping, and containers weakened by moisture or previous use.
Immobilize the contents
Wrap items separately and maintain cushioning between each item and every wall of the carton. Fragile goods should survive normal vibration, conveyor movement, and short drops during sortation.
Seal and label correctly
Use pressure-sensitive packing tape across every opening. Place one clear label on the largest flat surface and remove or fully cover old labels, routing marks, and barcodes.
